Angel’s Trumpet

Angel’s Trumpet

“My glorious white head bows toward the earth in humility and service.”

Botanical Name:  Datura suaveolens

Link to Chakra: Higher Crown Chakra

Origin: Tropical America.
A large shrub with large leaves and very large, funnel-shaped white flowers, it releases its’ perfume at night.

Traditional herbal uses: With the proper preparation it is said to have hallucinogenic properties; however,  if mal-prepared it can be both toxic and fatal, as all parts of the plant are poisonous.

Energetic properties:

  • Spiritual growth
  • Mental clarity
  • Aids absentmindedness
  • Helps to ground daydreamers
  • For people in healing professions
  • Purity of thought
  • Insight into one’s path in life

My frustrated search for morning glories (which had been pulled up after our previous visit to make way for a new hotel) led me to this magnificent flower, which looks like a huge morning glory, with its’ head bowed toward the earth.  Releasing its’ perfume at night, it seemed right that this beautiful white flower was the last of the chakra essences.
